The workshop for Architecture students was held at IIT Kanpur during July 22-29, 2023, and 61 participants from 16 colleges across India attended. During the eight-day workshop, the students learnt  architectural and structural  aspects of earthquake-resistant design and implemented it for a project of an office complex for co-working spaces in Guwahati, Assam - Seismic Zone V. The studio sessions were a mix of desk work and informal lectures where individual cases were used to illustrate earthquake engineering concepts.

Faculty members who participated as the resource persons included Prof. Keya Mitra (IIEST, Shibpur, Howrah), Prof. Vasudha Gokhale and Prof Meera Shirolkar (Dr. B.N. College of Architecture for Women, Pune), Prof Atanu Dutta and Prof. Nayanmoni Chetia (Jorhat Institute of Engineering and Technology, Assam), Prof. Nehal Desai and Prof. Bhavna Vimawala ( arvajanik University, Surat), Prof. Ruchira Das (Women's Polytechnic, Chandernagore)  and  Dr. Hari Kumar (GeoHazards Society, New Delhi).

Dr. Shailesh Agarwal, Executive Director, BMTPC New Delhi, delivered a  Special Lecture on the hazard scenario using ‘Vulnerability Atlas of India’. Ar. Vikram Hundekar, Mitimitra Consultants Pvt. Ltd., Pune illustrated the use of Confined Masonry in IIT Gandhinagar Hostel Design.

The design prepared by the participants was evaluated by a Jury panel comprised of Ar. Balbir Varma (New Delhi), Ar. Vikram Hundekar (Pune), Prof.  Meenu Varshney (NIT Jaipur), Prof. Mayank Varshney, (VIT Jaipur), and Prof. Vaibhav Singhal (IIT Patna).

The jury highly appreciated the design assignment of the following participants.
